Vacation Bible School 2011

Vacation Bible School 2011 was a wonderful time of learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. The fruits we studied this week were love, joy, peace and patience. The children learned Galatians 5:22-23.

We had 120 children attend from Grace Lutheran Church and the Camp RCLS program. VBS was held at RCLS. We had over 40 volunteers and had a great week with the theme ‘County Fair’. All the kids got blue ribbons for having fun and learning God’s word with music, skits, games, crafts, snacks, and bible stories.

Thank you to all who volunteered and who donated items or money towards the VBS program.

The kids had a goal to collect 400 items for Channel One (between food items and dollars) and they exceeded it with 410 items! This is really great as Channel One is such an important mission project. When the food was delivered to Channel One it was weighed and VBS donated a total of 240 pounds of food and $175.14. Thanks to all the kids who donated towards this important mission!!

Crafts were a lot of fun. We did many projects including a wood bookshelf, potted flower, hand prints, animal magnets and more.

The decorations were great! We were at a “County Fair”, here are the cool cows that were part of the decorations.

Games were a lot of fun! We played most of them outside and included some water games as well as used memory verses in the games to help us remember the Fruit of the Spirit.

Bible Study was held with age groups and we learned how to take an apple and twist the stem and say the Fruit of the Spirit while we did it. Each day was a different bible story to help teach us about the fruits that we have from the Spirit.

Music was amazing! We learned new songs and also learned how to line dance. Cool!

We learned how to milk a cow and also make butter from cream!

The skits were great!

Closing program was held each day at the end and we sang the songs from VBS program and learned about the mission project “Channel One”.

Sunday School Christmas Program

Please join us Sunday, Dec 19th at 10:30am for the Grace Children’s Christmas program. The prelude with Sunday School children playing music will start approx 10:15am.
The Grace Sunday School children will be presenting ‘Twas the Night Before and it is a wonderful program with children from Pre-kindergarten thru high school telling the story in anticipation of Christ’s birth and celebrating His coming. The children do a play and several songs, so please come join us to worship Him and His birth.

Rome & the Underground Church June 22-26, 2009 at RCLS, 9am-11:30am

The kids will be spending a little time in Rome with the apostle Paul during the week of June 22-26. Our trip to Rome begins each morning at 9am in the gymnasium at RCLS. Children ages 3 through entering 5th grade are invited on the trip. We will interact with other groups traveling to Rome, including those attending Camp RCLS and any guests we bring. This is a trip you don’t want to miss! Invite your friends and neighbors, too, opportunities like these can’t be passed up!
Please stop by the VBS table in the narthex to register for this summer’s program.
Still needed for the “trip” are adult & youth leaders and various supplies.

Sunday School Carnival
We will be celebrating the completion of another successful year of Sunday School on May 17, from 9:15- 10:30 AM with a carnival for all ages. This event is open to everyone! Information was distributed to community children who attended the Easter Egg hunt. Please invite friends, neighbors, and family to join in on the fun! Junior and Senior youth are invited to help with the games. A signup sheet is located on the Youth bulletin board.

Assuring Our Faith 2009!

It is not too late to register for Assuring our Faith 2009! For the 3rd year, this great collaboration of LCMS churches with Rochester Central Lutheran School (RCLS) offers you a choice of four different classes to assure your faith. The classes are for five weeks in January and February. They are held at RCLS on Sunday January 11, 18, 25 and February 1, & 8 from 4:00-5:30pm with childcare offered. A meal is offered immediately afterwards for a small offering. Come join us! Registration forms can be obtained at church or call the church office.

There WILL be Sunday School on January 4, 2009

The Miracles of Jesus: There will be a special Sunday School program for all 2nd through 5th grade students kicking off with a movie and popcorn on January 4, 2009. The five week rotational program will include music, drama, stories, cooking and art. Please invite your friends to join in on the fun!

4th & 5th grade will not need to bring their Bibles to the rotational program.

Away In a Manger
December 14, 10:30 a.m.

The beloved Christmas carol, Away in a Manger, serves as the framework for helping the children and congregation discover the gifts that flow from the manger; the gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation from our heavenly Father.

December Sunday School News

For the months of November and December the Sunday School Children will be collecting gifts for the Salvation Army’s Sharing Tree. Unwrapped gifts for children of all ages may be placed in a box by the Sunday School office. Offering collected for these months will be used to purchase additional gifts which will be placed under the Sharing Tree at Apache Mall prior to Christmas.

There will be no Sunday School on December 28, however there will be class on December 21 and January 4.

November Bible Study

“The Lutheran Liturgy – It’s Biblical Roots”.
This class is offered on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:15am) on November 2, 9, 16, 23 and on Wed nights from 7:30-8:30pm November 5, 12, 19, 26.
This session provides an explanation of the parts of the liturgy and references to the Holy Scriptures from which the liturgy is drawn.

Preparations are already underway for this year’s Christmas Program “Away in a Manger” which will be held December 14th at the 10:30 AM Service. In this Christmas program, the children help the congregation discover what is found “away in a manger” and will lead them to discover the rich gifts that come to believers in and through Jesus Christ.
For the months of November and December the Sunday School Children will be collecting gifts for the Salvation Army’s Sharing Tree.
